My Trusty Steed

This is Betsy.

I love her.

We’ve been through so much.

Yesterday was our first ride since I did this.

With the sun on my back and the wind in my face we hugged the curve of the bay.

When I ride I feel like I’m 12 again.

  1. Nice. I’ve got an old Trek which dates back to the mid/late 90s. Hardly ever use it though. As you’ll no doubt remember, the UK doesn’t have the most cycle-friendly roads you could wish for.

This summer I taught my youngest son to ride his bike without the stabiliser/training wheels. The “wow” moment he got when he realised he could actually do it, followed by that rush of freedom and independence was one of the most beautiful things I have ever had a hand in.

I hope that in years to come he will always be able to find that wow moment in his memories.
